Darkest dungeon 2 black screen4/27/2024 ![]() Just finished the very quick and satisfying tutorial, unlocked a few coach items, and I am at the start of my first real run, where we'll see how frustrating this ends up being. I look forward to double-dipping this on Switch and playing on the OLED like a year from now already, ha. ![]() This looks incredible on an OLED monitor, the black and the colors are wildly impressive. Seems neat but there are a LOT of them and it will probably take a minute to learn them and get good at the battles. They were very satisfying, and I really like the "token" system where tokens are status effects applied, like Combo. The combat is pitch perfect, though I've only done. The coach is a non-issue - it's enjoyable and creepy to watch it speed along the path, you don't have to steer it at all (something I assumed you needed to do - you don't even need to hold a button down, just tap W to start and S to stop, it otherwise moves itself), and it's fun to see the normal "node" map in a game like this depicted with a little more dynamic vibrancy. I played for the first time today, having skipped EA entirely, and I did really enjoy it. I'm hoping by the time I get off work the community has a Steam Deck layout I can use that works well. not sure what had gotten changed, but i was able to change back the handful of settings i still wanted and the black screen was gone hope this helps Darksita 2 yr. I need to map some buttons to keys like Z for the coach inventory though. the fix for me was to go into the Nvidia Control Panel and 'restore defaults' on my graphics settings. It seemed fine when I tested it at lunch at first, so it's probably something I'll get used to. I played it on Steam Deck by streaming from my gaming PC and that worked great but playing with the trackpad and L2/R2 for mouse clicks is not idea. It might (arguably) not be a better iteration of what DD1 was trying to do. The stuff you unlock is immediately available for the next expedition, so you basically never run out of new things to try out.Īlso, since every team combination plays differently, every run feels worth playing, even if just to try new synergies. No more filler missions to get the characters ready for the next big one: every expedition is worth it!Įven if you don't beat the final boss, you earn candles to get new items, character paths, perks etc. It's a different, less original take, but it's also such a step forward compared to the first one in terms of experience.Įach character plays uniquely, and unlocks multiple unique "paths" that modify the playstyle (ex: the Plague Doctor has a path for causing bleeding with close-up attacks, another to enhance blight buildups, another to focus on healing.) and these don't just switch up a couple of stats, they modify how their moves work! Basically, you get 4-5 variants of each character! The greatest dangers you face, however, may come from within. Form a party, equip your stagecoach, and set off across the decaying landscape on a last gasp quest to avert the apocalypse. After months of early access, I can say DD2 has one thing DD1 doesn't have: it's actually fun to play, always. Darkest Dungeon II is a roguelike road trip of the damned.
